End of 2009 Summer Reading Program

What a wonderful summer of reading and activities it has been at the Wasilla Public Library.

The Summer Reading Program is an important feature of the library. It helps the children keep their reading skills up, promotes family reading time and is a fun way to fill in those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

I want to give this special THANK YOU to all of you who found and took time to come and participate in the Literacy/Craft sessions of the Summer Reading Program.

Next year’s theme is: “Water”. We should have some fun with that one. J

Creating With Food!!

We completed the Literacy/Craft session of this 2009 Summer Reading Program by “creating with marshmallows.” Books, Fast Food and Food Play by Saxton Freymann & Joost Elffers, captivated the on-lookers as the books were read aloud.

It was fun Playing With Our Food!

Collage Art

This week's Literacy/Craft project centered around the book, Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle. His official website is:

Seahorses are truly unique. After reading the book the children formed their collage by gluing pieces of colored torn paper to their seahorse outline.
Fun day of creating!
